Our service industry has been hit hard. The bottle tax on a case of 12 is $24. Although this will decrease revenue, it is an investment in jobs, businesses and the vendors that serve these industries as well as their landlords and will SAVE Washington money in the end.

If more restaurants and bars close, we will have boarded up buildings, bankruptcies, less jobs, more unemployment and EBT users. It will cost us more in collateral damage and also an additional loss of B&O tax when we lose businesses.

This is a sound investment-style tax cut to help an industry that is not only vital to the economy, but a source of joy for our communities.
